Economy and Growth

Economy and Growth

Gold and citizens limit everything else. This guide shows where each comes from, what every upgrade adds and what to buy first.

Where gold comes from

Every 30 minutes your kingdom earns gold. Each Worker brings in the rate of your Economy upgrade, and your fortification adds a flat amount on top. Income bonuses raise the total.

For example, 100 Workers on the starting Farm earn 5,000 gold a turn, and the Manor adds 1,000. That is 6,000 gold a turn, or 288,000 gold over the 48 turns of a day.

Economy upgrades

Each Economy upgrade raises the gold every Worker earns and the number of Bank deposits you may make per day. Many upgrades also need a minimum fortification level.

Upgrades open features too. Gold transfers unlock with the Coal Mine, and the mercenary hall with the Tavern.

Housing and citizens

Citizens arrive every day, and each one can become a Worker or a fighter. Housing upgrades raise how many arrive. They cost gold and, like Economy upgrades, need a minimum fortification level.

Fortifications

Fortifications strengthen your defense and add a flat amount of gold every turn. They also open higher unit levels and many other upgrades. Walls take damage in battle and cost gold to repair.

Racial upgrades, the fourth upgrade track, open at fortification level 5 and cost 1,000,000 gold for the first tier. Goblins reach their first tier at fortification level 13.

The Bank

Gold in the Bank cannot be plundered. Each deposit is limited to 80% of the gold you are holding, and your Economy level sets how many deposits you may make a day. Gold you keep in hand is gold a raider can take: one raid takes at most 22%.

What to buy, in order

  1. Workers first. At the Farm rate a Worker repays its 2,000 gold in about 40 turns.

  2. Housing next, because more citizens a day means more Workers and fighters.

  3. Economy and fortification upgrades in turn, since each unlocks the other.

  4. A defense that matches your treasury, so raids stay small.
